Angela Green, MA, LPC
Clinical Director and EMDR Certified Therapist
Although I work with adults who have had a wide range of traumatic experiences, I specialize in working with adults who were raised by caregivers with personality disorders, substance abuse issues, or other emotional dysfunction (such as emotional neglect/avoidance). These adults learned coping strategies that perhaps worked for their survival as children, however, no longer serve them in adulthood. These adults often become hypervigilant of other people's emotions in order to predict feelings such as depression and anger; they've learned to please others and put their own needs last; they've learned that it's not okay to ask for what they need because their needs have not been met in the past; they've learned that it's somehow not okay to trust their own gut instinct because they were often told that they were to blame ("it's my fault"), or were told false stories ("gaslighting").

I primarily use EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Parts Work, Somatic Experiencing, and Experiential methods in my work with clients. I offer Brief/Adjunct and Intensive EMDR services for clients who are ready to start healing from the inside out.
I integrate psycho-education as well as radical self-compassion and forgiveness to allow clients to let go of past coping mechanisms to live a more fulfilling life.

When life pulls you every which way, finding peace within yourself and your body can be difficult. I provide an approach to therapy that allows the client to lead their journey toward growth and healing. I believe that creating a warm and compassionate environment will allow you to feel safe and grounded during every session. As a therapy intern, I prioritize working with clients to find the balance in confronting these emotions as well as identifying the strengths they already have. Your emotions make you human, and I am here to provide a non-judgmental collaborative space for you to talk through those feelings, however difficult and overwhelming they are. I have a passion for working with women experiencing eating disorders, women’s health issues, infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, or motherhood struggles. I am here to help you work through the feelings of the changing body, as well as regain self-esteem and stability in your everyday life. I also have extensive experience working with children, youth, and adolescents who are experiencing a difficult life change within their household or the world around them.
